Water penetration, mold, mildew and fungus issues are among the major concerns in the southern Virginia area. Our inspectors take great care when inspecting buildings looking for structural and floor insulation damage due to humidity and poor ventilation. The majority of homes in this area (80-85%) have crawlspaces and crawlspaces are excellent homes for mold and the like. Subterranean termites are also a common problem.
The Richmond area also has a substantial number of older constructions and inspecting 75-125 year old buildings is not unusual. Older buildings have dated systems like knob and tube wiring which can pose safety problems, asbestos, outdated boilers and heating systems.
