Here is a great post about GFCI outlets from one of our North Carolina Inspectors, Alan Brown--thanks Alan!

What is a GFCI you say?  Well, let me explain. GFCI stands for Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt. You probably have some in your home. If not, you need some! GFCIs can be in the form of an electrical outlet or a circuit breaker. They both have test buttons on them. The outlets have a reset button too.

Dependability is extremely important. Countless people--including our clients, real estate professionals, co-workers, and even our families and friends--depend on us every day. How we rise to the challenge of not letting down those people in our lives who are important to us, is what separates us from the crowd.

OK, I'm tired of winter and even though there is a foot of snow outside my house right now, I have decided it is over. Alright, so maybe I still have at least another 20 days, but I've already begun to mentally prepare for spring's arrival.

According to the old saying, March is a month that "comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb," referring to its weather. But while March is the month when we happily find ourselves celebrating the first day of spring, for many of us, we will continue to fight off the winter chill for several more shivering weeks. So I thought it was a good time to share some tips to tame your energy bills.

Did you know that according to a Realty Times article, many county building inspectors are seeing over 30 homes a day? That’s less than 15 minutes at each site. That's simply a lot to see in a very short amount of time. It's just one of the reasons why home inspections on new homes can be so beneficial.

Some days, being a home home inspector can be quite the adventure! It's not unusual for our inspectors to witness some pretty strange events through the course of their careers (even paranormal activity)! Here's a great story that U.S. Inspect Connecticut Inspector Pat Belcher shared with us this week about his encounter with the pillar of fire:
