Daylight Savings Time Begins: Change Your Clocks and Smoke Alarm Batteries

Did you show up for work an hour late today? Or, oops, two hours late?? Well, if you didn't already know, yesterday March 13, we changed our clocks because Daylight Savings Time began, and if you were a two hours late person, we turned them ahead 1 hour, as we do each spring. (Fall back, spring ahead, as they say).

Change Clocks Spring Ahead

Now, twice a year when we change the clocks in my house, we also do something else. (You may have heard this tip before, but it's definitely an oldie but goodie!). We change the batteries in our smoke alarms and test the functioning of all our detectors. Since we are told by fire safety experts that we should do this twice a year, doing so when we change the clocks in the spring and fall is a fantastic way to remember!

So if you successfully changed your clocks last night, but haven't checked your smoke alarms and batteries yet, do so as soon as you get home. If you forgot to change your clocks or moved them the wrong way--well, fix your clocks, check your alarms--and then treat yourself to a nice nap!

Stay safe, and check our blog often for more great tips and home safety information.
