HOME STAR Energy Retrofit Act of 2010 UPDATE
On Thursday, April 15, a day after Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.) introduced the Home Star Energy Retrofit Act (H.R. 5019) (VIDEO BELOW), the House Committee on Energy and Commerce approved the bipartisan bill by a vote of 30-17. Welch's energy efficiency retrofit initiative would create 170,000 jobs and save homeowners $10 billion dollars on their energy bills in the next decade by providing direct incentives to consumers to install energy-saving measures.
I believe that the bill moves on to the full House for a vote. One interesting note. In the same Senate bill, there is a typographical error. In SB 3177 on page 57 line 3 It seems the money set aside for Gold Star is $1,638,000. It should be $1,638,000,000. Ah, the wheels of government grind on. Stay-tuned for more updates, and check out the video below of Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt.) as he introduces the bill at the press conference.
