Kitchens: The Heart of Our Homes this Holiday

During the holidays, one room that will get a ton of "air time" besides the ever popular living room, will be the kitchen. In no other place in the house can you cook great food and socialize with friends and family alike. It it, as they say, the heart of the home and it can bring everyone together no matter how busy we get. So let's talk kitchens!

As a current college student, I dream about the day that I will have my very own place to call home. The centerpiece for my future home will definitely be the kitchen! I have really gotten into cooking lately. I have found it as a way to relieve stress, while making a good meal that everyone can enjoy. So, as part of my future home dream plans, I want to have an elaborate kitchen, decked out to cook up great meals, and entertain my guests! What about you? What's in your dream kitchen?

A kitchen is a great place to put your personal touch on your home. The layout and components are so customizable, and there are so many different routes you can take in order to create your very own dream kitchen.

Dream kitchen

You can choose contemporary, country, old world, or traditional or combine all your favorites with an eclectic look. Whatever the style, it can be uniquely yours by expressing it through everything from cabinetry, wall tiles, and island decorations to countertops, and even your appliances.

Adding a classic retro appliance can bring back a timeless look to your kitchen while also being functional. Here's a great example of just such a kitchen from myhomeideas.com:

Retro Kitchen

Kitchens are a room in the house that can come alive with just a few unique features. So have fun and put a little personality into your dream kitchen! Your kitchen can be the most alluring and intriguing part of your home, and it just so happens that when it comes to renovations and improvements, the kitchen tops the list for return on your investment--so you can dream big a little more "guilt-free."
