Quick Tip: Cleaning Ceiling Fans this Spring
OK, about a week ago here in the northeast we randomly had a very warm day (spring has NOT sprung here just yet--but that day it was nearly 80 degrees). That night, I felt myself overcome with heat and desperate for a breeze. I threw open the windows, but they are high up in the air, and I felt nothing as a result. I closed my eyes and imagined the relief I would feel if I got up and turned on the fan over the bed.
But then I remembered that I still hadn't gotten to the task of dusting the dang fan! It was caked with debris and would surely blow all over the bed and the room creating a whole mess of new problems.
Why hadn't I cleaned the fan!? I cursed to myself. And the big answer? I didn't want to get dust all over the bed, so cleaning the fan would mean I needed to cover the bed with an old sheet to catch all the crap; and well, that just seemed like a real pain.
So, as a result of my laziness, I paid the price and sweated out the rest of the night.
Now about a week later, I find myself reading an article on myhomeideas.com and discovering the best tip for cleaning fan blades, and I actually don't think I'm too lazy to tackle this one! You simply take an old pillowcase, slide it on the blade, and slide it off--all the debris goes right into the case! Now why didn't I think of that!?
So there you go! I plan to take care of my fan once and for all tonight--thanks myhomeideas.com for the great tip!
