Hiring a Roofer? Get Answers First
Hiring the right roofing contractor will involve a little homework for the homeowner. Doing so diligently will pay dividends in the long run. Here are some tasks for the owner to consider:
- Obtain, at a minimum, 3 written estimates for any work to be done.
- Always ask for references and confirm all contacts with a phone call or email.
- Is the company licensed to do work in your community?
- Are the workers insured? Ask the company for a copy of their insurance certificate.
- How long have they been in business?
- Is the work guaranteed? Is the material guaranteed by the manufacturer?
- What are their payment terms? What are you comfortable with?
- Is the company a member of the National Roofing Contractors Association?
Asking the right questions and knowing in advance what to expect is always the right thing to do.
