Tip of the Week: Lighting the Way for Trick-or-Treaters
Tip of the Week: Lighting the Way for Trick-or-Treaters. Halloween is this weekend! Are you the type that loves to decorate your home in preparation for all the pirates, ghouls, and goblins that will descend on your neighborhood briefly for one evening? Making your home desirable to all those devilish characters is quite an event for many homeowners. It's something we often look forward to with great anticipation. Unusual candies, creepy wall hangings, life sized ghosts, and dimly lit pumpkins are what Halloween is all about.
But consider this: children, adults, and teens will be running around with costumes and masks that look great, but may pose a tripping hazard due to loose, bulky, uncomfortable, and visually compromising clothing. Your ‘guests’ will need all the help they can get from well lit paths, steps, decks, and driveways. Besides, even though ‘dark’ is the theme of the night, light is what you need to see how great everyone looks!
The Tip. A great way to illuminate your front entryway for Trick-or-Treaters is to install a temporary spot light. Sometimes the lights we already have are just not enough. A nice spot light away from footpaths, pointed towards your front door will brightly illuminate your whole entry making it easier for all those ghosts and goblins to get around your property safely. At local hardware stores you'll find they have spotlights that simply spike into the ground wherever you need them and then they can be removed later. (You can use them again for other events and holidays). Just be sure any attached electrical cord does not become a tripping hazard and that the outlet is GFCI protected.
Now, get into the attic and start pulling out those boxes of creepy critters and ghoulish decorations. Oh, and that reminds me, make sure you review the earlier video on this blog site about ‘Attic Stairs’.
