What's Wrong With This Picture? Electrical Grounding
Answer: Not. Plastic Is Not Conductive.
The electrical service ground wire is properly attached to the water service pipe, as it should be. However, look closer and you will notice the copper piping is then connected to what appears to be plastic polybutelene or ABS piping. This configuration defeats the grounding of the electrical system and poses a shock hazard as plastic piping will not conduct electricity to ground. This setup is invalid and, while techinically bonded properly, not performing the design function intended.
