CPVC Now Used for Water Heater TPRV Pipe
Extensions
Recent information about CPVC supply piping indicates that it has been
tested and found capable of withstanding prolonged bursts from a water
heater TPRV. According to information on the Plastic Pipe and Fittings
Association web site, CPVC systems are tested at 150 PSI (pounds per square
inch) and 210 Fahrenheit for a period of 48 hours. Based on this new
information, U.S. Inspect has changed its reporting policy to reflect CPVC
as a proper material for water heater TPRV pipe extension applications.
