Common Misconceptions

I don’t need a home inspection because I am purchasing a brand-new house.

Buyers should never assume that all systems and components of the new home function and operate properly. Simply put, new construction is no longer a guarantee of quality. But don’t just take our word for it. Even the Council of Better Business Bureaus* agrees that buyers should have their home inspected—old or new—in order to minimize repair surprises at a later date.

A home inspection is undoubtedly one of the wisest investments you will ever make, one that complements what will most likely be the largest investment you will ever make.

It doesn’t really matter which inspection company I choose. They’re generally all the same.

Since purchasing a home is the single largest investment most people make in their lifetime, it really does matter which inspection company you choose. No two inspection companies are alike. Choosing an inspection company is like choosing a babysitter—you want someone you can trust. Buyers should take the time to investigate the company in order to select one that will help them make a confident home buying decision.

While all inspection companies are classified in the same industry, that’s about where the similarities end. It’s important to know what to look for in a home inspection company.
