Not only is Texas big, but also incredibly diverse. The climate, soil, population needs and construction requirements vary drastically from area to area within the state. To do inspections correctly home inspectors have to thoroughly understand an area’s specific building issues. Our home inspectors in Houston know the area very well. They know that the number one construction concern is water and preventing water intrusion. Our inspectors understand how costly water damage can be from compromising a roof’s integrity to promoting mold growth to weakening a building’s foundation.

In an effort to combat water intrusion most homes are on a slab and have brick veneer siding. However, a lot of new home construction is using masonry stucco siding. Wood siding/trim is less desirable as it highly susceptible to wood rot if not painted on a regular basis. Our inspectors know how impeding water damage manifests itself with all of these types of construction and investigate accordingly.

Another significant issue our inspectors consider when working in the greater Houston area, is the expansive soil issue. Because this area receives so much rain, the expansive soil can destroy your home’s foundation causing a sinkhole, sucking your house into the ground. Our inspectors know to look carefully for differential settlement, where one part of the house settles more quickly. This can lead to cracked foundation and serious structural problems.
