U.S. Inspect's Human Qualities Program

It is often said that good people are hard to find. But at U.S. Inspect good people are everywhere--and that's because we take great pride in hiring and maintaining individuals of the highest integrity--who are not only good at what they do, but are also outstanding people and citizens.

We believe that this strong company foundation is one of the many reasons that we currently hold a 98.7 percent customer satisfaction rating. In order to never lose sight of what it truly means to serve others, we created the Human Qualities Program, which promotes and measures our individual and company success in five key areas most important to our customers: Dependability, Charity, Diligence, Honesty and Knowledge.

  • Dependability. Dependability is having the right person at the right place at the right time doing the right thing. It is reliability. Being dependable at one thing is good, but we must try to be dependable in all facets of life. A dependable person responds to the challenges of everyday life with courage, resilience and confidence. Dependable people take pride in the consistent quality of their work and in the realization that they have made a difference in the work and in the lives of the people around them.
  • Charity. Charity is giving to another, in various ways simply because the other is a human being. It is being empathic to the feelings, needs and desires of all. It can take the form of being polite, respectful, generous, compassionate, courteous or even sacrificial. It isn't always easy to be charitable. In fact, for every reason to give, there are just as many reasons not to. Yet we know that the world would be a harsher place without random acts of charity. One good deed often spurs another.
  • Diligence. To pursue one's goals with conviction, persistence and dedication; constant, careful effort. Diligence is primarily about commitment. It is the commitment to do something right because doing it right matters. It is the commitment to apply constant effort to the task, even when barriers arise that could provide ample justification for quitting. It is the commitment to do nothing less than a thorough job, even though "thoroughness" requires more time and energy.
  • Honesty. Honesty is the human quality of communicating and acting truthfully and with fairness, as best as one is able. This includes listening, reasoning and any action in the human repertoire-as well as speaking. Honesty includes the desire to know the truth - not simply the factual truth but the truth in all of its aspects. It requires listening with genuine openness.
  • Knowledge. Knowledge is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as "facts, information and skills acquired by a person through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject." To gain knowledge we must engage in the process of learning-of gathering in information, absorbing and integrating that information, and then applying that information accurately to the situations we encounter and sharing what we know with others.

Additionally we've turned this program into a series on our blog. Check it out for more examples.
