Connecticut is a small but diverse state that boasts rolling hills, vibrant cities and a beautiful coastline. Our Waterbury home inspectors understand the unique issues concerning homebuilders and homebuyers in the area.
As part of the original 13 colonies, Connecticut is home to some of the oldest buildings in the country and as such, some substantial building concerns. Inspecting electrical and plumbing systems or the foundation and roofing construction of a 300-year old house is not uncommon. Our inspectors are quite knowledgeable about older construction as well as the techniques builders use to retrofit new systems into older homes.
The newer houses in the area have poured concrete or block foundations while the older homes have stone foundations. Roof coverings here last about 75% of what manufacturers claim and most houses have accessible attics. They almost all have basements as well and wet basements are a concern. Our inspectors look for signs of mold growth. Radon is also and issue with about 20% of homes in the area having high enough radon to require mitigation. Certain towns, more than others, have termite problems; our inspectors investigate accordingly.
